Joshua Davis

Joshua Davis is a New York based artist, designer, and technologist producing both public and private work for companies, collectors, and institutions. Using technology and computers as a medium since 1995, he has been working on many personal projects: http://www.joshuadavis.com (his main site), conceptual project http://www.once-upon-a-forest.com, and others, including praystation, cyphen, and dreamless.

O que não está descrito em cima (bio retirada do site pessoal de Davis) é que Joshua Davis é considerado "O Guru" do Flash (para designers e artistas). Davis faz parte da "Ivy League" onde se encontram John Maeda, Yugo Nakamura, Erik Natzke...

A par das iniciativas acima registadas, Joshua Davis abriu ao público recentemente um Blog e um Laboratório onde publica os seus projectos mais recentes bem como liberta o código e/ou os ficheiros de trabalho num regime de aprendizagem.

À semlhança do SmackBook um Desktop Manager e do MacSaber o utilitário mais inútil e divertido que vi nos últimos tempos para o Mac, os portáteis da Lenovo (antigos IBM Thinkpad) podem ser transformados em pseudo-consolas Wii. Definitivamente, vou experimentar logo à noite!!! ;)

Google Maps Tilt with ThinkPad

It uses the orientation and motion sensor of the ThinkPad hard disk's Active Protection System to enable you to navigate your Google map by tilting your laptop. Tilt left, your map goes left, and so forth. It's a hack. It runs only in IE, requires you install ActivePerl (free), it doesn't resize to a big screen, and it doesn't work with Google Earth--now that would be even cooler. But it's fun, and I dig it.

Bom... se estes trabalhadores algum dia quiserem usar o produto do seu trabalho... vão ter de trabalhar mesmo muito! Que nunca se lembrem de comprar um iPod Video!!!

We can only hope that Apple, who puts at least a little of that marketing budget into trying to promote themselves as a socially responsible company, can get on board with the movement towards technology manufacturing

The Animaris Rhinoceros Transport is a type of animal with a steel skeleton and a polyester skin. It looks as if there is a thick layer of sand coating the animal. It weighes 2 tons and it stands 4.70 meters tall. Because of its height it catches enough wind to start moving.
